The Benefits of Raw Vegetables
We’ve been told since birth to eat our veggies and yet far too few of us actually do it. Even when we do get round to eating our veg it’s only after we’ve cooked out almost all of the natural nutriments that our body is desperately craving.
Remember, as you proceed, that while all raw veg are incredibly advantageous, raw green veg essentially serve as the foundation of nearly all life on this planet. That may sound a bit acute to you, but stop and consider for a moment that almost every organism on this planet survives by either eating raw green vegetables or by eating an animal that eats raw green vegetablesthey really are that vital.
I know, you’ve likely eaten most of your vegetables cooked since you can recollect. Simply put , simply because something has’always’ been done a certain way doesn’t suggest that it’s the best way to do it. You will get more out of your veggies if you consume them raw.
I particularly used the word’consume’ because, in fact, you get the same benefits from raw green plant juice as you do from eating them whole and usually you get it quicker. This is because raw plant juice takes less internal work to digest and is soaked up into the body almost instantly.
It appears that most people only know that they should eat veggies because they remember mom informing them to ; very few people seem to have a grasp on the dazzling nutritive price of vegetables.
Raw veggies are intensely rich in minerals, vitamins, trace elements, enzymes and natural sugars. All of these are things that your body needs to function properly and the raw vegatables will help stabilize and normalize your natural bodily functions. They actually help pretty much all of your natural bodily functions operate.
You have likely heard about the requirement of nutrients and vitamins to your general health your whole life, but the postulate of enzymes may be new to you. Basically, the enzymes in raw plants help your body digest food. This is one of the explanations that green veg are occasionally considered’nature’s laxative,’ because they get your stomach working properly.
The average American diet is essentially composed of a few foods that are incredibly difficult for our bodies to digest correctly. When we aren’t digesting properly, the food sits in our stomach longer than it should and we miss any nutritive price it did possess.
OK, so at about that point, you will have started to become convinced about the prerequisite of vegetablesbut why raw?
All our cooking strategies have been shown in systematic studies to reduce the amount of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes in vegetables. Of the cooking strategies, steaming has been shown to keep the biggest quantity of vitamin content while it still reduces it.
Vegetables begin losing their valuable nutritive elements as fast as they are plucked, pulled or picked from the ground. Because of this, the extra loss of nutrient elements during cooking would be a smaller problem if we grew our own vegetables and cooked them the same day we harvested them.
Many of us don’t live that way. The biggest majority of us purchase our vegetables at the grocer after they have been shipped hundreds or thousands of miles. In that time, the nutritional value has been seeping out of them.
Eventually, to complicate things, repeated research has proven that commercially grown plants, right out of the ground, are not as rich in nutrient elements as they were 50 years back. One massive contributing factor to this is that farmers have found so many ways to make their crops grow quicker that we are not receiving the full benefit of naturally mature vegetables.
It is albeit acute, but not that extreme, to say any plant you get from the grocer and then cook at home probably has the nutritive value of cardboard when it hits your belly.
Start eating ( or drinking ) raw vegetables as quickly as you can. Whenever it’s possible, grow them yourself or buy them from local farmer’s markets.
